Story: A Quiet Place Day One starts when terminally ill Samira (Nyong’o) agrees to go to New York. However, after the show, an invasion of aliens hits the Big Apple and she is forced into hiding. She is joined by her nurse Reuben (Wolff) and strange Henri (Honsou) as they learn about the threat.

The government tries to get people out of the city. However, Samira decides to take a trip down memory lane with her cat Frodo. She is joined by stranger Eric (Quinn) and they look to make the most of what looks like the end of the world.

Verdict on A Quiet Place Day One

A Quiet Place Day One is a prequel to the popular horror movies. It takes place in New York when the first attack happens, and follows a woman nearing the end of her life. She must help people escape and the threat becomes more dangerous.

This movie has a unique take for the lead character, with a terminal ill person facing the end of the world. She lives for the little things, knowing tomorrow could be her last day. Away from her, we get the pure chaos of the first attack, where nobody knew how to defend themselves and were forced to adapt.

It is similar to the last movie and that opening scene, only at a much larger scale. The silence is deadly, and maintained for the most part of the movie. Even if they do become lazy and add in a rainstorm so the characters can talk a little bit. The cat does steal the show and the overall idea of never knowing who you could meet at the end of the world, peace with each other is the best thing. This is still high quality franchise, and manages to bring the same tension when needed and relies on the silence perfectly. I couldn’t help but feel it was a lot like watching ‘Cloverfield’ with a steadier camera.

Final ThoughtsA Quiet Place Day One is filled with tension on a massive scale.
