A Preview of Gerald Butler’s ‘Copshop’: Will You Watch It

Posted on the 18 February 2022 by Geetikamalik

Copshop, a critically acclaimed film, has recently debuted exclusively on Netflix in numerous locations, replete with Netflix’s Original branding. With that stated, the worldwide streaming picture for Copshop is significantly fragmented in only a few locations. The 2021 action thriller, directed by Joe Carnahan, starred Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, and Alexis Louder.

Synopsis

“When a rookie officer unintentionally locks a contract killer in the cell opposite his victim, bullets fly and blood splatters at a small-town police station.” With an 82 percent fresh rating on RottenTomatoes, the film is considered new. The audience response is also positive, with a 74 percent audience score. On January 14th, Copshop was released in at least six Netflix territories.

Why isn’t Copshop available on Netflix in the UK or the United States?

However, the action thriller isn’t available on Netflix everywhere today.

Other firms in the United States and the United Kingdom have already picked up and disseminated Copshop.

Open Road Films, a division of AMC Theatres and Regal Entertainment Group, is distributing the film in the United States. While some of their distributed films have made it to Netflix, we can’t tell with certainty if Copshop will. Based on previous updates, it’ll be sometime in 2022, so don’t hold your breath. In September 2021, the film was released in US cinemas. For the time being, it’s exclusively accessible to PVOD providers.

The film is released by STXInternational in the United Kingdom, where it opened in theatres in September 2021. As of January 2022, the film is exclusively available on VOD platforms in the United States.

The film’s distribution rights have primarily been awarded to Amazon Prime, which is showing it in countries like France. The film is also available via several local distributors, such as KPN in the Netherlands. For the time being, the film is only available on VOD platforms in most areas of the world.

All of this is to imply that Copshop had a tangled distribution plan throughout the world, with the film most likely landing on services that either paid the most or already had a relationship with STXinternational.
