A New Taste – NYC Gyro

By Rohit Dassani

The taste of Lebanese-American Gyro is here in Bangalore. Situated in Koramangala 1st Block NYC Gyro is one of the newest entrant here. Located directly opposite to Nilgiris Supermarket and the Beer Café. The outlet claims to be one of the first to enter the niche Gyro market in India. The place has a few tables and has a self-service counter and the wall is adorned with a large Manhattan city-line poster.

We tried the Falafel Rice Combo which comes with a special rice, falafels, salad and comes with Mint as well as spicy Sriracha sauce. The order come in no time. The rice was quite flavorful and very heavy on the stomach but goes really well with the Falafel’s. Both the sauce made the Falafel more flavorful specially the Sriracha sauce. The combo was topped with Tahini dip. The salad was fresh with no frills. What was really interesting was their plates and boxes made from a special paper, which is eco-friendly.

We also tried the Lemon Mint and the Blue Curacao drinks. Both the beverages were fantastic. NYC Gyro is definitely a place to try with a new cuisine in town!
