Formerly known as The Holy Road, multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Stolber has shared ‘Scattered Red, Blue & Black’ – the first release under his new moniker, A Knife Ballet.
Challenging himself to lean more into exploring different types of guitar sounds, but with a powerful cello from guest Maddie Cutter (Martin Grech) underpinning the seven minutes, this sprawling, twisting and hair-raising behemoth of a song has elements of all your favorite post rock bands (Mogwai, Agent Fresco, Maybeshewill) but with a delicacy at its core that is almost orchestral and wonderfully touching.
There will also be one bespoke vinyl pressing of the song to be auctioned on ebay today – with all proceeds from the sale to be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause very close to Jonathan’s heart.
