Story: A Kind of Kidnapping starts when Maggie (Wenham) and Brian (Parry-Jones) find money running short. Brian’s quiet taxi job isn’t enough with Maggie’s short temper and dreams of being an actress. The couple decides to take advantage of a politician Richard Hardy (Baladi) coming to the area.
When their kidnapping decision goes wrong, Hardy ends up agreeing to stay hidden for a large amount of money. However, things end up getting out of hand and their relationship is tested.
Verdict on A Kind of Kidnapping
A Kind of Kidnapping is a crime comedy following a couple that decides to kidnap a sleazy politician. They are tired of working day in and day out without getting enough money to survive. However, not everything goes to plan for the couple as they see things unravel in front of their eyes.
This is a movie that gets to play into the current political climate. The idea that things fall into place for the kidnapping is entertaining. As things unfold, we get twists and turns along the way. This does put more focus on the relationship than the kidnapping news going around. The performances are fun as Patrick Baladi makes you hate his political character. While Jack Parry-Jones makes you feel sympathetic toward his character.
Where to Watch: A Kind of Kidnapping will be coming to select cinemas from 13th July for a series of special Cast & Crew Q&A screenings followed by a digital download release on 24th July.
