A Hidden Gem: Samabe Luxury Resort

By Twothirstytravellers @2thirstytrav

The road that leads to Samabe Luxury Resort is very unassuming, you weave through local streets before everything changes: there are luxury resorts lining the coastal road. The entrance to Samabe is grand and from the moment we arrived I knew we were in for something very, very special.

Samabe Luxury Resort

As we sat and enjoyed our welcome drink during check-in, I was taken back by the views and the sheer size of Samabe. The property is a total of 8 hectares and when you take into consideration there are a total 70 rooms and villas, it is a very spacious resort. Despite being almost full when we visited, due to the layout and design, most of the time we felt like we had the place to ourselves – perfect when you want a romantic holiday.

The Samabe Experience
Samabe has a strong emphasis on relaxing and enjoying your time there. From the full service of a 24 hour butler to buggies to transport you around the property, everything is designed to ensure comfort. I have stayed in some 5 star accommodation that barely scraps through on its rating, but at Samabe Luxury Resort there was so many little details that ensured a delightful stay. In the afternoon I ordered some afternoon tea and enjoyed it while admiring the striking view from our room’s balcony.

Coffee, cake and the ocean – it doesn’t get much better than this.

There is the option to go all-inclusive at Samabe, which is not something Ben and I had considered before arriving. I think it would be worth it though, as we ate dinner in one of the restaurants and it came to about the price of an upgrade to all-inclusive. Samabe offers “Unlimited all-inclusive benefits” which means you can order from room service or the restaurants without worrying about the bill.

In addition, Samabe offers some activities including a cooking course, but we were too busy enjoying our room to participate in the activities.

The Main Pool is made up of two infinity pools overlooking the ocean, and they are of different depths, ensuring one would be fine for children and that the adults are still catered too – a nice touch. If you’re around the pool during the late afternoon you might find yourself enjoying a free foot massage!

In addition to the beautiful pool there are a number of water sport activities available at Samabe, including snorkelling and kayaking, tide dependent. The beach is located around an 8 minute walk from the pool.

Our Suite
Samambe offers two main types of accommodation: villas and suites. Our suite was considerable: with a dressing room, well appointed bathroom with two vanities and a large tub overlooking the views. The balcony was a generous size and Ben and I both spent a lot of time admiring the view. The room had everything you needed: a well stocked mini bar, bubble bath, salts and body lotions as well as a bug and insect kit which was a nice touch.

Although the villas have private pools and are absolutely gorgeous, I actually preferred the suite as it as very, very stunning views.

Samabe’s Special Features
One of the features that impressed me most about Samabe is they have a special guest lounge which is designed for guest’s who may need to check out before their flight or transport arrives. It includes a movie theatre, ample space to relax and unwind as well as showers to freshen up before your flight. This is the first resort I have stayed in that offered this service and I was thoroughly impressed.

The Buffet Breakfast
This buffet was so impressive it deserves it’s own section. From sushi to vitamin shots, Samabe had it all. It was a perfect balance of buffet and a la carte, ensuring even the fussiest of eaters would be well catered to. This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in my life, period.

Book at Samabe if…
You want an experience you’ll never forget. Almost everything is taken care of here so you can enjoy your time with your special someone. While Samabe is very romantic and is perfectly suited to couples celebrating something special or honeymooners, there is also a kid’s program on offer at Samabe, so it is a great option for a family too – especially if you want some alone time.

I was genuinely sad to leave Samabe and one night was simply not enough. However, I know that my partner and I will return as it was a very special destination for us.
