A Girly Evening at Wynyard Hall

Sometimes we all need a little pamper.
When I visited Wynyard Hall recently for a facial, I knew I wanted to return for a girly spa day. The grounds so vast and green, the hall itself so decadent and elegant. I decided to make an evening of it, so Jules and I headed along for a girly treat.We headed straight to the spa where we were booked in to use the facilities. The spa at Wynyard is compact but full of character being nestled within the old boathouse; with a sauna, steam room, rainfall showers and the hot tubs you have everything you need. The staff limit how many guests can use the facilities at one time so it doesn't feel crowded and you have a great experience. Sipping a glass of fizz whilst soaking in the hot tubs, we could gaze out across the lake. Soon it was time to be whisked away for our Outer Glow treatments; a full body scrub and polish - perfect for the summer months to revitalise your skin.
After a little more time sitting in our jedi robes (sorry, but they're brown and huge, so we felt like Jedis being the Star Wars nerds we are) enjoying the sunshine, we headed over to check into our room. Wynyard Hall has 19 bedrooms and suites, all uniquely decorated. There's no minimalist modern design here, everything has character and our suite, Mount Stewart was absolutely stunning. Feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman we changed into the robes and popped the kettle on before starting to get ready for dinner. A knock at the door and we (well Jules answered the door as I was applying makeup) were greeted by the hotel staff asking if we needed anything restocking. Of course I'd already tucked into the crisps and we'd had the kettle on, so a few extra packets of crisps, biscuits and tea and we were sorted. Just a nice little touch, I thought.Dinner was served in the ever so elegant, Wellington Restaurant adorned with huge paintings and statement chandeliers. Treating ourselves to a selection from the Brasserie menu we enjoyed croquettes and ribs to start, followed by a 30 day aged ribeye steak and roast lamb, then sticky toffee pudding and a cheese selection for dessert. Yes, I double cheesed - but if I didn't plump for the cheese selection it would have been cheesecake. I know, I know.Retiring to our suite for girly chats and a pot of tea in our cosy robes, we settled for the evening. With a very generous offering of three pillows (each) and a comfy bed, I had a great sleep. Breakfast was served in the Wellington restaurant and it certainly felt quite special to be tucking into a full english breakfast listening to Etta James. The scrambled eggs were great, I just would've liked a hash brown or two too... There was a selection of fresh fruit, cereal and pastries to choose from too.
After checking out we made our way over to the gardens, as admission is included within your overnight stay. The weather, unpredictable as ever, had slightly other ideas and as we were searching through the roses, the rain got heavier. Seeking shelter in the farm shop café, we sipped on coffee hoping the clouds would pass - they didn't - so we braved the rain, took a few quick photos and decided to head back on a brighter day.
With classic rooms from £200 and exec doubles/suites from £280 Wynyard Hall is a great place to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. However, like most destinations, you can pop along for afternoon tea or a meal without being a resident, though I'm sure you'll agree those bedrooms look great.
