Today’s fun filled feista style wedding has me dreaming of the summer sun and get together’s with friends. Perfectly captured by the talented Jenny Siaosi, this wedding is filled with bright and beautiful inspiration for the warmer days ahead. Enjoy!
Our wedding was a family affair. Both from families with five plus children, and a large extended family it was never going to be small. The food, the relaxed atmosphere and the location all had to be ‘family style’.

The vision was for a fun-filled summer fiesta style wedding, taking inspiration from Spanish fiesta and South American flavours. We married in the garden under a huge Oak tree with a natural aisle. Home made pinata, flags, and garden swings were hung in the trees in the garden, along with garden games to keep everyone entertained while drinking Spanish inspired cocktails.
Lacewood at Tuhitarata is the perfect venue for a big crowd, exceptionally beautiful grounds, accommodation on site and a recently renovated historic barn to seat up to 200 people.
The menu was presented as a feast, with the entree on the table when the guests were seated, followed by main dishes added to the table throughout dinner. White fish ceviche, corn bread, catalan bread, fried causa, smoked potato salad, whole grilled fish, pulled pork shoulder, whole braised leg of lamb, charred sweet corn, grain salad to name a few!
All the decor, flowers and set up were all do-it-yourself. Several days of preparations at Lacewood with a significant team was a project management task, that was pulled off with the help of amazing family and friends.
