Verdict on A Family Affair

A Family Affair is a romantic comedy following an aspiring producer working as an assistant for an A-list movie star. She is trying to break into the industry and is getting tired of missing out on opportunities. However, her life becomes more complicated when her boss starts dating her mother.

This movie deals with an adult child learning their mother could start dating someone close to them. Away from the core story, we get three characters who feel lost in life. Brooke has been struggling with her writing work, Chris has a life away from the big screen. On the other hand, Zara is the most confusing one, she is 24 and complaining she hasn’t made it in Hollywood yet. It makes no sense for someone that young to be complaining, if she was in her 30s you could understand more. Add in most of the comedy feels completely forced and out of context for the rest of the movie. Nicole Kidman is great, but Zac Efron steals the show with portrayals of a pampered movie star who gets all the laughs.

Where to Watch

A Family Affair is available on Netflix now.

Final Thoughts A Family Affair proves once again that Zac Efron is one of the best comedy stars in the business.
