Canadian graphic design studio Baboon wondered what it would be like if some of the most famous fictional brands from film & TV were real. In a recent blog post on their website, they have taken eleven of their favourite fake logos and given them a 21st century makeover.

Designers of fake logos don't really have to worry about real world concerns like printing costs, or whether or not a logo will fax or look right as a smartphone icon. But Baboon have looked at each brand with a critical eye and made them suitable for real-world use. The Krusty Krab from Spongebob Squarepants for example has been given a stripped-down re-design that looks great on real life menus and takeaway packaging.

Los Pollos Hermanos

Los Pollos Hermanos was a fictional fast food restaurant that featured in TV's Breaking Bad. The updated version could easily compete with any of today's fast food chains.

Central Perk

Fans of 90s sitcoms will instantly recognise the coffee shop where the gang would hang out in Friends. The new version manages to maintain the essence of the original logo, but with a lot less visual clutter.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co

Forrest Gump became the owner of the fictional Bubba Gump Shrimp Co in the 1994 movie set mostly in the 1960s and 70s. Baboon has made the logo fit for the demands of the 21st century with a slick redesign.
