Yesterday I took a break from all my Christmas activities. I needed to relax, and I found the perfect place to do just that: a newly opened wine-bar/café in my neighborhood. From the moment I entered the place I was blown away its rustic decor. It was simply decorated and yet so warm and inviting. Upon entering I was greeted with a wine barrel decorated for the holidays.
It had a delightful gallery wall composed of empty wine crates with wine bottles resting on top of some of them. The crates surrounded a television that was showing slides of wine-related scenes.
To give additional texture and color, multicolored glass pendant lights were hung above the bar area and smaller open-faced white lights were hung in other areas around the cafe.
The wine cafe also had a shop section. I can’t wait to taste each and every one of them.
I loved the small cozy seating area by the bar area. I could see myself relaxing there, reading a book or magazine while enjoying a nice glass of wine.
I ordered one of their Fireplace Reds. I was impressed that along with the wine they gave me a lovely little card telling me everything I needed to know about this wine. They very creatively used color swatches to indicate the varietal style of my wine.
My baguette sandwich (melted brie, prosciutto and arugula) was delicious and just the right portion size. In keeping with the rustic theme of the restaurant, it was served on a small carving board covered with a sheet of brown protective paper. This sandwich was so tasty!
I can definitely see myself becoming a repeat customer. I’m happy to know that we finally have a wine-bar/café in the neighborhood. And it was exactly what I needed to relieve some of my holiday stress!
