A Day Trip to Delta 105 Army Camp Post Lockdown

By Dr.jenifer Sayyed @SayyedJenifer

Last Friday I received an invitation to visit Delta 105 Army Camp located in Manesar. Before making any decision, I checked out their website and enquired about sanitization measurements.

We came to know that the camp is ventured by an ex-army official, Major Dinesh Sharma and all the staff were ex-army officials. Hence, we don’t need to worry about our safety.

We all are fascinated by comrades’ lives and always wish to know what all they go through. This army-themed park allows us to experience their lives in a fun way.

Therefore, we went to this ‘one of its kind camp’ for some good time in this rugged situation. Delta 105 camp has recently reopened for the visitors.

It is India’s first army theme park filled with recreational army activities and thrilling camping experience. Spanning over 20 acres of lush green land, it is located in Manesar, 30mins drive from Gurgaon.

The camp is made considering all age groups and gender. Live the life of a Jawan and get to know what goes into making him a national hero.

*Timings: Day picnic: 9-5 pm.

Camp Activities

We were welcomed by Hawaldar Raju, who assisted us throughout our trip and explained everything amusingly including the activities. He checked our temperature and then we were allowed to enter the premises.

As the camp has recently reopened, thus, very few visitors were there including, 3-4 travel bloggers and army families.

1. Walk through army heritage

Delta 105 army camp near to Gurgaon has displayed some tools, uniforms, newspapers from various military locations. It was good to see some unseen things.

Before the camping experience begins, a briefing was given by Captain Mohd Islam on a sand model about the layout of the camp, activities, dos & don’ts, so that our visit is completed easily and effortlessly.

3. Sarva-Dharamveer-sthal or MMG Complex

Be its army, navy, or air force, secularism is followed and all religions are honoured to maintain brotherhood.

Therefore, at gate entry in every army camp, we can find Mandir, Masjid, Church, Gurudwara next to each other. We loved the replica and the concept of celebrating all religions.

4. Assault Course- Commando and Commando Junior

This is the army recreational activities aka roadies task.  There are different types of activities for both kids and adults.

My husband had overcome 7 obstacles out of 8, whereas I and my fellow travel blogger find it difficult. However, we completed the junior’s obstacles.

😉

It was full of fun, thrilling, and adventurous experience. The staff had made sure about following the safety guidelines and call it military like safety. All the activities at Delta 105 army camp were sanitized properly before we took part.

5. Paint Ball/ Grenade Throwing Range

We didn’t participate in paintball as we need to wear the outfits which we avoided due to the current situation. Although they have informed us that it gets dry cleaned in every usage, still we felt better to skip this activity.

I use to think that grenade is a good weapon to destroy enemies, but we were astonished to know that if thrown incorrectly, enemies can backfire us with the same grenade.

Hawaldar Raju described to us about the army grenade and its details- way of throwing it, weight, time, and how far a jawan can throw it.

6. Race with Battle Load

There were haversacks with 5kg, 10kg, 20kg & 40kg of sand to select and run. As usual, we ladies selected the minimum load and run. It was a good experience to feel the load in a typical army way.

7. Crawl Trench/ Rifle shot

We were shown the way and position of crawling- Cheetah A & Cheetah B. Although I didn’t participate, but took photos wearing a helmet and carrying a dummy rifle.

Another activity was rifle shot and we had to aim the target & shoot. It was enthralling and one of the unique experiences.

8. War Zone

The war zone at Delta 105 army camp is a depiction of a real border and DCB (Ditch Cum Bandh) is made to warn enemies not to cross the line.

Hawaldar Raju had explained to us very well about this zone and the details of minefields, bunkers, and other military fortification.

9. War memorial

Amar Jawan!

Delta 105 army camp has made a war memorial to show respect to the martyrs. It was emotional and we realized how we forget their sacrifices in our busy life.

Delta Mess

The mess is designed to make us feel army canteen vibes. We had breakfast and lunch and loved savouring parathas and gulab jamun.

Accommodation- Night stay in tents

If you wish to stay overnight, then they have an accommodation facility. Enjoy staying in tents which have all the basic amenities.

After we were done with our activities, we went to a tent to relax and found it pleasant.
