Line and Mads brought their close friends and family over from Denmark to get married on Cherry Hill, overlooking the Lake and Bow Bridge this September. It was a special spot for them because Mads had proposed just there a year before. They had been together for just over two years before they got married.
Originally they had considered a traditional church wedding in Denmark, and then holding the wedding party at one of Denmark’s many beautiful castles. Which would have been lovely. “Then the idea of getting married in New York came up and on Valentine’s Day we agreed over dinner in a romantic restaurant that we would get married in Central Park,” said Line. They knew right away that Cherry Hill was the spot for their ceremony, since that was where they got engaged. It is a lovely, open space, beside many cherry trees, so it is covered in cherry blossom in the Springtime.
This was Line and Mads’ third visit to New York. They stayed for a week with their guests at Loews Regency Hotel on Park Avenue. “It was very convenient being close to the park in the days up to the wedding,” said Line. None of their guests had visited New York City before so they all made a nice vacation out of the trip, as many families do with destination weddings. Line and Mads played tour guides with their guests and took them to see the many sights of New York City.
Once the wedding ceremony at Cherry Hill was over Line and Mads went to have their wedding photos taken in different areas around Central Park and their their guests went to The Tavern on the Green for a sit down and a drink. “It was a nice place for them to relax and have something to drink while they waited for us,” said Line.
Line and Mads had a lot of wedding photos taken at and in front of Bow Bridge, at Bethesda Terrace and Fountain and in the area around Bethesda Terrace. These places are all located very near to Cherry Hill, so they did not have to do too much walking. That was lucky because the weather that day was very warm for September (92 degrees Fahrenheit) and they were wearing their wedding finery.
Line wore a long, ivory colored dress with a lace top and long sleeves and a train. It was purchased at home in Denmark. Her bouquet was white and pink roses with some greenery and a little baby’s breath. The bridesmaids wore dresses from Ted Baker. Their guests thought it very romantic that we decided to get married in Central Park and they all said that they truly enjoyed the experience.
We arranged for a violinist to play at their wedding and they couple and their guests all sang a traditional Danish wedding song after their ceremony, with accompaniment from the violinist who had been able to learn the music in advance. Line and Mads also said a little of their vows in Danish.
“We have been completely satisfied with the service we have been provided by Wedding in Central Park. We were especially happy that our officiant Hope Mirlis and our photographer Andy Mars were such nice and warm people. They have a great share in making it a perfect wedding day,” said Line.
After the ceremony and the photos the party went to the The Gramercy Tavern for dinner and celebrations. “It is an amazing place with the best gourmet food. We had booked the restaurant’s private dining room and everything was just perfect; the room, the décor, the atmosphere, the food, the wine, the service etc,” said Line.
