A Culinary Experience Around Europe’s Greatest Cities: London 2012: Day3

By Nogarlicnoonions @nogarlicnoonion

It’s 07:30 on a fresh sunny saturday morning in a calm and serene street ambiance we grabbed a cab to visit The borough market. After visiting the Real food market, Borough was the next culinary address. From my side, I preferred the Real food market nevertheless Borough is an exciting experience.

After that was time to go back to the conference for a photography morning. There I decided to keep my professional camera aside and try to get the most out of my iPhone an see what it can do. The results were astonishing!

At a walking distance from the hotel is the Picadilly circus and the surrounding streets. We’ve been moving around the Leicester square and Regent street but didn’t look at this long side street. Why not try it today? Picadilly street is one of the most interesting streets of all hosting interesting shops, hotels and shopping arcades: Paul, De Beers, Le Meridian, The Ritz, Audi luxury showroom, M&S food to name a few… I loved the Burlington arcade and the Picadilly shopping arcade where shopping in those two fine architectural streets is a pleasure.

The best discovery tonight, and second best after Harrods during this trip is the food area of Fortnum & Mason. It’s WAW! Different from Harrods, even more luxurious with high-end goods from all over the world and specially the ones they produce. They have many kinds of Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Mustard that they produce, all kinds of teas, chutneys, chocolates… Whatever you dream off. A delicatessen haven with items beautifully displayed on the two floors covered with a relaxing carpet, high ceiling and nice drawers.

Buying is a feeling not a necessity, you just get inspired an feel like buying it all.

We continued our discovery journey passing in front one of the most beautiful car showrooms, the Audi one, the Very high-end Ritz and stopped by mistake in front a big yellow bus doing night visits o the capital. Perfect! A great opportunity  for you businessmen out there to visit the capital after a long day’s work.

I learned some interesting things tonight:
- London has more than 8000 pubs
- Bureau de change
- Dragon is the symbol of the city of london where at its entrance on all sides a metallic sculpture welcomes its guests
- The oldest pub in the world
- St. Paul cathedral’s dome is the 2nd biggest in Europe after the Vatican’s St. Pierre church.

We got stuck in traffic and missed a restaurant I really wanted to try. Check out this nice booking system; It’s really professional and quick. A place where ordering your food comes from the future: “inamo is a pioneering Oriental fusion restaurant and bar where the control of the dining experience is placed firmly in your hands. Our mission is to provide delicious cuisine with charming and timely service in a warm and vibrant atmosphere. At the core of Inamo is our interactive ordering system. Diners place orders from an illustrated food and drinks menu projected on to their table surface. You’ll set the mood, discover the local neighbourhood, and even order a taxi home. Our dedicated and friendly staff are always on hand to help with whatever you need.”

So we moved to plan b, walking around Leicester square where we decided to check some of its pubs a enjoy some beers.

Three full and exciting days living the London spirit. I wonderful city I urge you to discover. We left for the airport, where shopping continued at the amazing Heathrow airport before accessing the Skyteam lounge to relax before jumping to Paris where another adventure is awaiting.
