A Cloudy Morning

By Travellingartist @devtramp

Inle Lake, Myanmar / September 2016: Situated almost almost 3,000 feet above sea level in the Shan Hills of Myanmar, Inle Lake receives a lot of rainfall and serves as a catch basin for runoff water from the surrounding hills. A day in September could be sunny in one part of the lake and overcast in another and rain showers could just pour down on any part without warning. As we looked for scenes to shoot one morning, our local boatman mostly stayed away from the cloudy areas but, noticing an interesting cloud formation, I asked him to take me to the 'dark side'. And then, just as I have taken a few clicks of this scene, the rain poured and I had to quickly hunker under my umbrella, cradling the cameras under a scarf on my lap as if protecting delicate babies from the cold mountain rain.

Back in the hotel, as we examined the raw images from the lake, a local colleague and fellow photographer quickly concluded that the fisherman in the photo is also a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo and I agreed. The shirt tells that part of the story. 🙂
