I love fashion that looks good and does good at the same time. For the fifth year, Talbots partnered with O, the Oprah Magazine for a collection that donates proceeds to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence. This year, the collection is called Cardis for a Cause and 30% of the net proceeds from the five cardigans in this limited-edition collection will be given to Dress for Success. This collection was designed by Talbots and O, The Oprah Magazine's Creative Director Adam Glassman.
This post is not sponsored by Talbots, however, I did receive the cardigan for free. It's such a good cause and good style I had to share it! Cardigan: Floral Cardigan c/o Talbots (L) | Tank: Cotton Blend Tank c/o Talbots (L) | Pants: Comfort Stretch Slim Ankle Pants c/o WHBM (Classic cut, size 12) | Shoes: Rothy's | Watch: Received as part of a LOFT campaign a couple of years ago and no longer available; similarYou can find all of the Talbots Cardis for a Cause at this link. However, this isn't the only way that you can give back while adding style to your closet:
- This collection will be online and in stores through March 29th. However, don't wait as this is a limited-edition collection so when selection is gone it won't be back.
- Talbots is accepting monetary donations for Dress for Success at their stores through March 29th.
- Through February 24th, Talbots stores are accepting nearly new workwear donations for Dress for Success
- Put February 29th on your calendar - that day 10% of all purchases at Talbots will go to Dress for Success!
This cardigan is a standout because while the back and sleeves are made from super soft sweater knit (the cuffs, collar, and trim are also knit), the front panels are actually a silky fabric like a scarf. This really elevates the cardigan and would be a beautiful piece over a dress, styled over a blouse with a skirt or trousers, but can also create a bit of a bomber jacket effect. I originally had this styled with a pair of black joggers and sneakers for the day but dressed it up a bit with a pair of pants I was raving about in the WO2 Community so it was more a work-friendly ensemble.
So these pants... they are from White House Black Market! The brand sent them to me, gosh it was maybe two years ago but they still carry the same exact ones. They are pretty darn perfect. They're heavy enough to hide everything, are of a fabric that looks professional for work, yet stretch and are machine washable, the pockets don't gape, and they come in Classic and Curvy cuts up to 18 (with regular, short, and long options) and Petite up to size 16, and they are available in six colors. I usually wear these pants with a slight heel; if I was going to wear them regularly with flats I'd go with the short option or get these shortened a hair. White House Black Market is one of those brands that can surprise you with their selection. They carry some very elaborate and trendy pieces, but also great staples and workwear, and some inventive accessories you can't find elsewhere (I love their shoe clip selection which is quite extensive during the holidays!).
