Wool, Tulle & Wood – A Styled Editorial Shoot at Danby Castle
York Wedding Photographer
One of the most fantastic parts of being a wedding photographer (outside of the actual weddings themselves) is getting to work with other amazing creative people. Back in spring we got together with some of the most amazing suppliers in the north to put together a a rather fun and funky wedding inspiration shoot. The theme of the shoot was wool, tulle & wood – a sumptuous and eclectic mix of earthy and tactile sensations. Each element represented something personal that I love – be it knitting, animals or dance. When we work to style a shoot we are always reaching to do something just a little bit different – to show brides that they really can make their wedding as personal and as unique as they want it to be.
The shoot was held at Danby Castle – a fantastic little hideaway venue in the Yorkshire Moors – complete with a gorgeous fog that rolled in just in time for our shoot. Nothing make you feel like you are in the north like a moor with a bit of fog.
Some of my favorite wedding suppliers of all time helped bring together this shoot – Fiona from Firenza Floral is my absolute favorite florist of all time. I see her flowers and have a total SWOON – crazy, bohemian bliss. HF Couture supplied the jewelry and headdresses and she is just amazing. Each of her pieces is handmade and so incredibly beautiful. The woolen wedding dresses were loomed by Makepiece in Hebden Bridge and seriously if you are going to have a cold weather wedding why not be snuggly warm in a wool wedding dress? Gemma from Rosy Apple Creations did the styling and completely understood my ‘more is better’ philosophy when it comes to tablescapes. Kizzy from Charisma Hairdressing did the most amazingly boho hair for me. Makeup was provided by Victoria Farr and that woman can make anyone a supermodel. I need her to travel around with me and make me beautiful. Rachael from Marry Me Ink supplied her mascot Alfred the Hedgehog and even showed us how to hold him! Ah there are so many more – too many to mention by name but you seriously should check out the suppliers list at the bottom if you are looking for the best of the best.
We hope you enjoy a little peek into some earthy, eclectic wedding inspiration.
