A BEAUTY FROM THE PAST

I'm sure it's hard finding any potential in an old, rickety garage for military vehicles with holes in the roof. But for Swedish architects Henry and Lotta Imberg it was quite easy. After looking a various houses to turn into their dream holiday home, the couple fell in love with the rustic look, proximity to the sea and the unique landscape of this abandoned building. They were hoping to find an unconventional structure with lots of character they could make their own. And so the did. Wanting to keep the integrity of the old garage, they opted for a open layout — only adding a couple of partitions to separate the living and sleeping areas. The use of raw plywood combined with the beautiful slate blue and soft black, creates a stunning contrast that gives the Imberg home a beautiful yet primitive quality.
