The Sunderland Albion name has been revived again, returning to the Wearside League for the start of this season. The original club played in the Football Alliance from 1888, until they disbanded in 1892. A new club was formed in 2020, playing in the Wearside League, playing home matches at the Downhill Hub, but only lasted for two seasons. The new version of Albion is based at The Limes, an enclosed football pitch found at the rear of Ashbrooke School.

Albion came from behind to take the lead with two goals late in the first half. Surprisingly, there was no further scoring after the break, with the home team hitting the crossbar three times.

After my penultimate Saturday at work, I drove down to wearside to meet Katie at the game. Also in attendance was Toon Army disciple Alan Birkbeck and Michael Stout, who was briefly a former work colleague and now a fellow Groundhopping, so it was good to catch up with everyone.
