I have a deep undying love for coats, to the point where I think it might start to become a problem for my wallet. The things is, there are so many options out there, they all look so magnificent and there's nothing like putting on a coat and having it transform your entire outfit into something 10x more sophisticated. So, imagine my joy when I decided to write about the incredible Coat Trends for 2019/2020.
This year's fall/winter coat trends are nothing far from what we've seen the past 2 years from designers…it's all about the dramatics. So here are 9 Fall Winter 2019/2020 coat trends to shop from this year and let's all cry for our credit cards…
Glossy Lacquered Coats Trend
If you have a love for Vinyl, a glossy statement coat is something you might want to invest it. Glossy leather coats were also seen on the runway, for those who want to tone down the shine a little bit. I think this lacquer trend is going to be around for a while and I'm not mad at it.
Houndstooth/Plaid/Checkered Coats Trend
These pattern sisters are all in this year, especially houndstooth (the coat in the middle). I was In awe when I saw Cara Delevingne in the Chanel houndstooth coat at Karl Lagerfeld's last ever collection.
Capes Trend
I know some of you might not consider these coats, but to me they serve the same beauty that coats do. Capes give a really regal and classy look and they're great for evening wear and gowns as well.
Coats with Strong Padded Shoulders
Let's all welcome back the padded shoulders, but with even more drama and with big oversized coats as well. These are great because they give structure and strength to the look and they're incredibly chic with a touch of early '90s nostalgia.
Dramatically Furry and Hopefully Faux Fur Coats Trend
Fur is everywhere and it's big, fluffy and fuzzy. Again the bigger the better. Coats on the runway were huge and dramatic, especially the fur and fleece coats.
Neon Coats Trend
I know this will not come as a surprise to most of us. Neon seems like it's not going anywhere, especially this fall and winter. This could be a little daring for some people, but it's a beautiful piece to have in your wardrobe when you want to feel like you just walked off the runway.
Brown & Beige Coats Trend
The brown and camel toned color palette has always been loved for coats. It's usually the color people choose when it comes to buying a coat, along with the classic black of course. It's great because it suits anything and you can choose the color or tone that suits you best.
Oversized Coats Trend
We've touched on this above, so yeah oversized is still very much on trend and I couldn't be more happy. Oversized clothes are the best, comfortable, chic and really practical for winter. Oversized coats are really cool because they can actually be really flattering and are amazing when it comes to layering for fall and winter.
Really Long Coats Trend
The Row were one of the Fall/Winter 2019 collections that really took on that trend, along with many more. Really long coats are back. Most of the ones I've seen just graze the ankle, which is a really flattering length when styled correctly and especially when paired with boots.
