This year, Cinemalaya gets even bigger with the addition of a new major venue at Trinoma in Quezon City, making the reach of Cinemalaya even wider and bigger. The addition of Trinoma as a third major venue for the festival is part of the vision of Cinemalaya organizers to make the Festival more accessible to the growing number of audiences that attend Cinemalaya.
In tribute to to the late screenwriter, director and actor Mario O'Hara who passed away on June 26, his film "Babae Sa Breakwater" will be the opening film tonight, 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater). After a 20-year Filipino film drought at the Cannes International Filmfest since Lino Brocka's "Insiang" was screened, the independently produced "Babae Sa Breakwater" was invited for screening at the Directors Fortnight in 2004.
