A number of special programs have been organized for a week from 3rd July at Dehiwala National Zoo to mark the eighty-seventh anniversary of the National Zoological Department.
To commemorate the occasion, on 3 rd July, all children below the age of 12 will be given access to visit the zoo free of charge, said Mr. Tilak Premakanta, Director General of the National Zoological Department.
According to Mrs. Dinushika Manawadu, Deputy Director, several programs are being held at the Zoo to create awareness about animals and their living habitat. There are also interactive and fun programs targeted towards children as well.
