Campion Association Football Clubwas established by Michael Mahoney in 1963, with players coming from the St Edmund Campion youth club. The club is based in the Manningham area of Bradford, which holds a wealth of industrial history, including mill buildings, wool merchants' dwellings and traditional back-to-back terraced houses. It is the old Jewish area of Bradford, before many of the area’s German community later moving to the Heaton area of the city. (population: nearly 20,000)

The ground is in the shadow of the iconic Lister’s Manningham Mills. There's a covered seated stand facing one half of the pitch with the rest of the ends open  and the dugouts opposite the stand. The clubhouse and changing rooms are behind the goal, along from the paying entrance, where access is gained via the neighbouring cricket pitch.

Campion’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end as they crashed out of the FA Vase to Bacup Borough. There were just 32 seconds on the clock(well according to my phone) when the visitors stormed into the lead. A right wing cross found Toby Wright who drilled the ball home past the ‘keeper’s left hand post. Wright got his second when he was fouled in the box following a mazy run. The striker’s penalty was well saved by ‘keeper Bradley Emmerson, but he made no mistake in netting the rebound.

Just before half time the hosts got back into it, when Aidan Day headed home from a throw-in, but the joy was short lived as Alex Mellor scored straight from the kick off to make it 1-3 at half time.

Campion played well and were the better side in the second half, but they were unable to make the breakthrough to get back into the contest, with their Lancashire opponents worthy of their place in the 2nd round.
