Shildon Reserves joined the Wearside League for the 2020-21 and were Division 2 champions in their debut season. Last season they finished a respectable 10th in the league’s top division. After playing home matches at Dean Street this season, the team has recently returned to the King James Academy in Bishop Auckland.The school was opened in 1605, by King James I of England. Throughout the years it had multiple transformations and different names, but was mainly known as King James 1st Grammar School, before it became the first secondary school in south-west Durham to be upgraded to academy status.

The ground was recently upgraded with a pitch side perimeter fence and tent style dugouts. The Academy also has a 4G pitch at the bottom end of the main ground.

This was the second of three home fixtures for Shildon against Shotton Colliery in October. The home side won 4-1 in the Alan Hood Trophy a fortnight ago, but the Yakkas gained revenge with three goals in each half to run out 6-0 winners.
After taking an early lead through Bradley Beeston, they took control with two quick goals around the half an hour mark. A cross from the left eluded the defence and found Josh Stradling to head home, then Daniel Maddison set up Craig Foster for the third.
Beeston got his second with a well taken penalty on 59 minutes, followed by a fine strike from Jamie Bennett from outside the box, then unselfish work from Maddison teed up Sean Ryder for the half dozen. There was still time for Maddison to miss a penalty in the last minute, which would have put the icing on a great away win.
