8 Handy Apps for Woodworking (Infographic)

By Kravelv @kravelv

If you’re reading this, I would venture to suggest that you own a smartphone which contains a variety of apps that make everyday processes a whole lot easier. Most of those probably pertain to casual usage, but some of them will come in very handy indeed for professional purposes. That doesn’t just apply to office environments, either; tradespeople and construction workers can use a multitude of apps to make their jobs simpler.

Crowe Sawmills (http://www.crowesawmills.ie/) have recognised this by producing an infographic featuring eight of the best apps for carpenters and woodworkers. For instance, there are apps which combine several tools into one digitalised platform, so instead of needing to find space in your toolbox for a spirit level, measuring tape or protractor, you can carry them all in just one app. If you’re concerned that the digital readings won’t be as accurate as those from the traditional measuring tools, fear not. The best apps like Stanley Level and iHandy Carpenter guarantee the precision you require.

If you’re an inexperienced or casual woodworker, there are many great apps which can provide flashes of inspiration or excellent tips and advice. DIY novices would especially enjoy Woodworking with the Wood Whisperer, which contains hundreds of brilliant step-by-step video tutorials and even lets you buy any of the products featured. If you’re looking to begin a new project but aren’t sure where to start, apps like 1001 Pallets will surely get your creative juices flowing.

So, if DIY and woodworking is your passion or profession, the apps featured in this infographic are must-haves, although you’re probably using most of them already. This is merely a selection of what’s out there, so the next time you face a DIY dilemma, browse the App Store or Play Store for excellent apps such as these.
