This year, I am yet to travel and I certainly have itchy feet. By this time in 2016, I’d already been on a solo holiday to South Korea, moved home to England from Hong Kong and been on the trip of a lifetime to Japan with my brother and sister. I’m so ready for a little break away! So, to satiate my traveling appetite, here are seven places I’d love to visit soon…
Copenhagen, Denmark
Top of almost everybody’s travel wishlist is probably this Danish city, infamous for being notoriously expensive. This one is only a little bit of a cheat as I’ve already booked Copenhagen and we’ll be heading off in June for almost a week of exploring. I’m headed out with my sister who will be an architecture graduate by then and we’re most excited to sample all the smørrebrød, hunt down the best Danish pastry and coffee in town, visit Nyhavn and tick off all of the beautiful buildings on Louise’s master list.Amsterdam, The Netherlands
I feel as though every single person I know has visited Amsterdam and every single time, an invitation completely bypassed me. It’s cool, I’m used to being forgotten about (but really). I’m dreaming lately of bicycle rides by the canal, paying a visit to The Anne Frank House, soaking up some of the quirkier parts of the city *ahem* and ticking off some apartments from my Airbnb list. Hopefully towards the end of the summer!Taipei, Taiwan
Home to some of the world’s cutest restaurants and most picturesque city streets, Taipei has been on my travel bucket list since I discovered the world of Taiwanese dramas when I was about 14. I didn’t manage to visit when I lived in Hong Kong which seems a real shame, but I’m sure we’ll be able to visit when I move back over in the future.Amalfi Coast, Italy
Of course it doesn’t come as a surprise that social media has a huge role to play in some of the places I’d like to visit. Last summer my Instagram Explore page was full of those infamous coloured buildings on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, shot from passing sailboats. And thus it became my mission to make my own voyage there and witness those mismatched buildings for myself. Oh. So. Dreamy. I’ve never managed to visit Italy so I’d love to tack that on to the end of an Italian city hopping break.Santorini, Greece
Santorini is one of those destinations that I’ve wanted to visit since my teenage years. We used to holiday as a family every year and yet we never quite made it to Greece. In fact last year I was also supposed to visit but got ditched at the last minute… (This theme is becoming quite recurrent!) My boyfriend and I are now semi-planning to visit at some point this year, perhaps even to celebrate our first anniversary! I’m so ready to see those white buildings and beautifully blue oceans for myself.Reykjavík, Iceland
Ever since becoming pals with Hannah, Iceland has been on my list of places to visit. Reykjavík is the most picturesque city to me, those bright rooftops against clashing facades and of course seeing the Blue Lagoon, popping to the Reykjavík 871±2 exhibition and then a mini excursion to see the Northern Lights. Reading Rae’s blog over the last few years cemented my desire to visit Berlin. I think I’m subconsciously saving a trip for the cool autumn or the promising festive season, where the city seems to sow its own kind of magic. Vegan cafes, cool boutiques, city corners saturated in history and seemingly friendly city-dwellers make Berlin one of the dreamiest and most fascinating cities to me.Jeju Island, South Korea
When I did my solo trip to Seoul last year, I desperately wanted to add Jeju Island to my itinerary. Alas, in the depths of winter, it wasn’t really feasible and so I told myself I’d save it for another time. Jeju Island is a romantic and postcard-picture worthy island to the south of South Korea. Home to beach resorts and Hallasan Mountain, a dormant volcano, the island offers beautiful temples, glorious beaches, hiking trails (YASSS) and beautiful volcanic landscapes with craters and tubes to explore. Damn, son.Where are you headed to next?
7 Places I'd Like To Visit Soon
8.5.17 2016 was an awesome year for me in terms of travel. I absolutely love visiting new places and sampling their cuisine and culture and, more importantly, making memories all across the globe. Last year I was lucky enough to spend time in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hungary, as well as spend copious amounts of time in layovers in France and Dubai and I pinched myself at every moment, thinking about how lucky I was to do so.
