Want to get into the Halloween spirit but don't want to actually be terrified or scared when watching films? I am sure this is something a lot of people actually want to do. It doesn't have to be a truly terrifying film to get into the autumn Halloween spirit.
I have decided to pick out my seven favourites which could do just that, with a halloween feel but not actually going to stop you from getting to sleep. Quite a few of my choices are actually childhood favourites that I really do still love watching now as well. Take a look at the seven chosen films . . .
Hocus Pocus (1993)
I know some people now complain about the subject matter of this film but I seriously do not care. This is an absolute classic and Bette Midler is awesome and puts a spell on everyone! It is one of those films that you cannot help but enjoy no matter how many times you watch it, just don't think too deeply about it!
This one is actually a lot deeper than you may remember or even think considering it has some very sad and thought provoking moments. A young girl without her mother and a friendly ghost of a boy of a similar age who was taken too soon? The father/daughter relationship attempting to survive during tough times. It might tug at your heartstrings but it certainly does not have anything scary about it.
I had to get a musical on the list somehow and this cult classic b-movie is the one to do it. Shown at cinemas around the world with dress up throughout the year but you will find so many different showings on and around Halloween. Dressing up and getting involved is something that caught on rather quickly with this one . . . Let's do the time warp again!

Ghostbusters!
This classic from the 80s takes some betting and while use it does have ghosts and ghouls and some strange things to go with them all, it isn't actually scary and more in the comedy mould. Perfect for a nice relaxing and amusing film for Halloween, I am pretty sure everyone has seen this one right?
Another cult classic from the 70s and comedy genius Mel Brooks with Gene Wilder was always a perfect combination. We have the birth of Frankenstein but again with a nice comedy twist, what hump? I think if you are concerned about Halloween being too scary then the stupid and slapstick nature of this brooks classic is a perfect choice.
Has to be a double feature for these two as they are both truly amazing. Yes, films from my childhood which hold a very special place in my heart still. Meeting Christina Ricci at London Film and Comic Con in the summer was such a thrill! A very messed up family who are quite happy when it comes to trying to kill each other and embracing everything about death. Even with all of that it doesn't really have anything that could be classed as scary.
I still feel bad that I was very late to the Zombieland party, I only watched it this time last year. I know that was terrible but it was like I had sensed the second part was coming. I absolutely loved everything about the comedy in it and the top tips on how to survive if a zombie outburst would happen so it was good for two reasons. Plus just look above as it links right into another film that I have on this list.
