Architect Michelle Linden created this black home on a remote island off Washington state as “site-specific, life-size sculpture.” Along with its ascetic design, the home makes as little impact on the environment as possible: Geothermal wells, solar panels, and radiant heat help the house achieve almost net-zero energy usage.
