Moms Are Busy!

7 Cleaning Tips For Busy Moms

You are always running around the house cleaning up after them, cooking for them, even parenting them when dad isn’t around, so here are some cleaning tips for busy moms like yourself.

Why worry about the stress cleaning brings? You clean up one area and here comes your oh so precious children that trash it after you move away. With some organization, perseverance, and cleaning tips to help you clean your home. You’re going to love how easy cleaning just got.

TIP 1: Get the kids involved!

Get kids involved

If your kids are young, why not make a game out of cleaning up their toys? You can set up a point system for each toy your kids pick up, and at the end you tally them all up and reward the winner (and the others) for their hard work!

If your kids are older, you can offer them an allowance for each chore they complete. Sure, you are paying them to clean up the messes they made, but you can also use this as an opportunity to teach them they have to work for their money.

Sooner or later they will catch on and automatically clean up their messes. Don’t be afraid to be strict when they get older, they need to have this life lesson. You won’t be there to pick up their messes when they move out.

TIP 2: Looking through the glass.

Your windows may be dirty.  You may not have had the time to wash them recently because it takes too much time out of your busy day. Instead of cleaning your windows in the afternoon, clean them at night.

While the kids are sleeping you don’t have to worry about them coming down and smearing their little hands on the glass, and you can wake up to clean windows before you go to work or stay at home and begin your busy day.

When the inevitable happens, you can just simply apply glass cleaner to a microfiber towel or a paper towel and wipe where the kiddos touched.  You can also take a look at this article for cleaning tips for COVID-19 to get you started.

TIP 3: Dusting.

Ok so there’s no creative title for this one, why you ask? Because who enjoys dusting. I mean seriously you have to get in every nook and cranny to grab those dust bunnies, and think if there is a lot of dust, it will fly up in your face.

Well, say goodbye to that feather duster and say hello to paper towels and microfiber cloths. Do you know that feather dusters just spread the dust? With a busy mom like yourself who has time for that? It is so much easier to just grab a paper towel and apply the appropriate cleaner. You can literally wipe down your bookcase in less time than the feather duster.

TIP 4: Suck it up, buttercup.

So if your vacuum is named buttercup then this title is perfect for you! If not it’s still perfect for you! So you have to vacuum up any messes your kids just made, you will find the occasional graham cracker crumbs, popcorn kernels, and maybe even cereal pieces.

No matter the mess, it’s easier to have the kids involved on this task as well. From a young age, if you make vacuuming seem fun, the kids may see it as a game and do your work for you! If not, then grab an automated vacuum and let it go! You have other things that need to be done than spend hours vacuuming.

TIP 5: Put it where it goes!

So your kids are messy, we know this already. Picking up their trash and throwing it away is irritating, especially when you’ve asked them a million times and they just don’t listen. So, make it a game or add it to the chore list for them to complete.

You can buy mini basketball hoops they can toss their trash in as they walk by, or toss their papers in at a distance. If you have recyclables, you can also decorate the recycle bin and trash can to encourage them to throw things away.

Also, when you need to put your important papers or organize your space, there are really affordable foldable boxes you can fold up and put things away in there. Also works great for the kid’s toys if you need to separate them (no more fighting about who’s toy is who’s)!

PRO TIP: Hire a great commercial cleaning service such as Cleaning World, Inc. if you want to cut down on the time you spend cleaning!  We know you’ll be thankful in the end.

TIP 6: Just chuck them in the dishwasher!

If you are fortunate to have a dishwasher in your home, why not save the time disinfecting and cleaning each toy and just throw them in there? The dishwasher can safely clean heavy duty toys like blocks, plastic toys, and etc.

Just make sure there is no fabric or any stuffed animals that are being put in there. It’s even better if the dishwasher has a sanitize setting so you don’t have to worry about that as well.

You would save half the time it would take you to just gather them up. Have your kids put their toys in a bin before they go to bed, and before you also go to bed just throw them in the dishwasher for tomorrow.

For small accessories to the toys, you can buy a small mesh baggie to keep them together and still throw them in!

TIP 7: Ready? Set. Relax

Now that all the cleaning is done, the toys are put away, and your kids are calmed down it’s time for you to calm down as well. Take time to relax and do what you like to do in your free time. If your favorite show is on, watch it. Have you time, you need it to be able to do it all again tomorrow.

It’s best for you not to be stressed out before cleaning or else you will break down and no one wants to clean when they are stressed out. You don’t have to get everything done at once, you can space it out for your entire day.

Use the resources you have, if your kids are willing to help, let them help. If you have a robotic vacuum then turn it on and let it roam around the house. You didn’t let your busy day get in the way of your chores, now you know these cleaning tips for busy moms for future reference!
