6 Things You Can Do in Dalaguete Cebu

By Vanessa Kay @blushinggeek

Dalaguete is a municipality in the southeast part of the province of Cebu and is about 86 kilometers away from the city. Dalaguete is considered as the “Summer Capital of Cebu”, the “Vegetable Basket of Cebu” and the “Little Baguio of Cebu”. Aside from its cooler climate, Dalaguete is the best place for adventure, to see amazing green scenery and a place to unwind and hit the beach and spring. For such a small province, there are actually a lot of things you can do in Dalaguete Cebu and here’s 6 of them.

  1. Eat

This is absolutely number 1 in my list as I believe that your travel will never be complete if you haven’t tasted even a single one of their delicacies. When I went there, I tried their Batchoy for the very first time. I love to eat Batchoy-flavored instant noodles but haven’t tried the real deal. And dang! It was absolutely yummy. For just Php73, you can enjoy a bowl of Batchoy that you can even share with a friend. You can check out Maria’s Batchoy’s menu here.

If you’re thirsty or who wants to have a snack and enjoy a good beach view, then you absolutely want to check out Dalaguete’s Foodlane where there’s a lot of food stalls to choose from. My recommendation would be their halo-halo. Always a best seller.

  1. Go caving

Before reaching Osmeña Peak, trekkers pass through a cave where it is famous for its thousands of bats and other nocturnal denizens flying in and out of the cave. That’s why it’s called Kulabyaw Cave.

  1. Climb a mountain

One of the frequent things that tourists do in Dalaguete is to climb the Osmeña Peak. But Aside from Osmeña Peak, you can definitely burn some fats and breath some fresh air while enjoying the view at Kandungaw Peak, Mercado Peak and Bandera Peak.

  1. Refresh yourself in spring and beach

Aside from the picturesque mountain views and cool fresh air, Dalaguete got a fair share of spring and beaches you can definitely visit. Aside from the cool icy water, Obong Spring is also famous for the trees called “dalakit” where the province got its name. Gakub Spring is not that famous but still offers a cold crystal clear water where you can actually see the rocks on the bottom.

Aside from its refreshing spring, Dalaguete is also blessed with white sand beach where you can work your tan and swim until your heart content. The Dalaguete Beach Park is open in public, so what are you waiting for?

  1. Visit a Farm

Being known as a Vegetable Basket of Cebu, you can’t definitely miss visiting farms in Cebu particularly Sergio’s Farm. The first and only strawberry farm in Cebu. Aside from taking pictures with those yummy pink beauties, you can definitely harvest and buy them. Read more about it here.

  1. Buy pasalubong

So going back to number 1, let’s talk about foods again, haha. Aside from enjoying yourself with the beautiful tourist destinations in Dalaguete, it is also fair to bring your experience with you and share it with your loved one by buying them pasalubong. The most popular would be their torta, bibingka (which I really really love), puto and some crunchy cookies.
