6 Natural Ways to Keep Spiders Away from Your Home

If there is one insect that we would not want to have at home, it is the spider. This pest often sneaks through windows and weaves its webs in the darkest and most inaccessible corners of the house. We give you 6 tips to permanently remove it from your home.

Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders, usually the result of a traumatic experience, a fear passed down from a parent, or shocking images seen in the media or movies. If you are one of those who suffer from it, you are probably ready to do anything to avoid crossing their path.

It is never pleasant to see a spider glued to the ceiling or hanging from its thread. Although they help to limit the invasion of insects, arachnids are often associated with a lack of hygiene and cleanliness. To scare them away, you can adopt the following natural tips.

    The first trick is to mix the following ingredients in a spray bottle:

    • A tablespoon of peppermint essential oil;
    • A tablespoon of dishwashing liquid;
    • 3 cups of water.

    Next, shake everything before applying the solution obtained on the areas frequented by spiders: doors, windows or dark corners of your interior. This solution should be applied once a week at least.

  • Cinnamon, a spice that is not liked by spiders

  • One of the most effective and inexpensive ways to keep spiders away from the house is to use cinnamon. This spice, with its strong smell, is a real natural repellent against spiders. So just mix 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon in a cup of water.Then pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray areas where spiders usually live, such as window sills and door corners. You can also sprinkle ground cinnamon around the house or place a few sticks near openings.

    It is also possible to use chestnuts to get rid of spiders in your home. Indeed, these contain a molecule that spiders do not support. It will therefore suffice to cut the chestnuts in half and place them near openings such as the main door or windows. However, a preliminary cleaning of the house must be carried out to improve their effectiveness. It is also possible to mix this fruit with other substances or ingredients that are intolerant to spiders, namely, tobacco or lemon.

You can then sprinkle once a week, the latter in the favorite corners of the spiders. Prefer grapefruit, orange, lemon peels or a mixture of all these citrus fruits.

    In a spray bottle, mix equal parts water and vinegar. After shaking well, spray the resulting solution on the openings of the house, the cracks, the corners of the walls and the cabinets.The acetic acid in vinegar can kill spiders. Plus, the potent smell of this product might deter them from coming back. This solution also offers another advantage: it can be used to clean surfaces and protect them against several other unwanted insects.

  • Coconut oil can also be used to repel spiders

  • Coconut oil can also be an excellent spider repellent, as can peppermint oil. In a spray bottle, mix one part coconut oil and two parts water. This solution can be used in all areas where spiders are found. You can also mix white vinegar with a teaspoon of coconut oil. It will be enough to spray this solution as often as necessary to keep the spiders away.
