These days, our smartphones are no longer just communication devices. They are also our personal assistant, our book reader, our camera and even our entertainment centre. When it comes to listening to music, many of us rely almost completely on our smartphones. However, no matter how good the smartphone, its sound output cannot equal that produced by a good quality external speaker. That is why headsets and portable bluetooth speakers are getting so popular. They enhance the sound of the music and make it louder and better.

These are speakers that float in air using electromagnets and look very futuristic as they float above their electromagnetic station.
I saw one of these at the launch of Amazon Launchpad. It is Ice Orb Floating Bluetooth Speaker which is sphere shaped and might remind you of the Star Wars movies. It has a built-in NFC and its sphere shape can deliver 360 degree sound. The speaker can be taken away and used without its station too.
LG too is showcasing Levitating Portable Speaker (model PJ9) at CES 2017. LG PJ9 is a floating 360-degree omnidirectional speaker with turbine blade-inspired design. It is capable of producing deep bass sound with the subwoofer embedded within its Levitation Station. The PJ9 also has Dual Passive Radiator technology that helps in producing flush mid-range tones and crisp highs.
It has 10-hour battery life. Interestingly, when the battery runs low, the speaker automatically descends to the Levitation Station to charge wirelessly, without interrupting the music playback. LG PJ9 is IPX7 compliant which gives it the durability to be used outdoors. It can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

Portronics DOME:
DOME is the latest Bluetooth speaker launched by Portronics. As the name suggests, it is a dome shaped speaker. Its simple and stylish design gives it a distinct identity. This dome-shaped speaker has an embroidered cotton cloth mesh texture which adds to its style. It is available in Grey and Brown colours. Dome also has a strong 180 degree foldable ring which allows it to be hung from the wall or positioned at a table at any angle. It has large Volume Control +/- buttons which can also be used for playing Previous/Next songs. Other buttons include Play/Pause/Mic and Mode. It measures 15cm x 15cm x 4.8 cm and weighs 260 grams.
The dome shape helps in multi-directional sound output. DOME can be connected to media playing device using a 3.5mm Aux-In port or Bluetooth 4.1. It also has in-built microphone which allows users to take calls on it. It has two 5W speakers. It is water resistant and can play upto 6 hours of music with single battery charge. It has lithium-ion 2000 mAh battery.

LG PH1 Portable Bluetooth Speaker:
The highlight of LG PH1 is its mood lighting. It has a ransparent case within which three different kinds of light effects play out. The mood lighting include white light, colourful lights and lights synced with music. It can play upto 6 hours of music with single battery charge. It can be used to receive phone calls. JBL Clip 2 Waterproof Ultraportable Speaker:
JBL is a well trusted brand when it comes to sound systems. A wide range of JBL speakers are available. The specialty of JBL Clip 2 is that it is IPX7 Waterproof. It is a light-weight, rugged speaker with JBL brand assurance. It provides 8 hours of music playtime with single battery charge. JBL Clip can connect to the playback device using Bluetooth or audio cable. Two Clip 2 speakers can be wirelessly connected to amplify the sound. It can also be used to receive phone calls. Clip is covered with waterproof fabric and has a sturdy clip that can be used to attach it to clothes, backpacks etc. while going out on a trip.

UE Roll is also shockproof. It has 360 degree surround sound with deep bass and one 2″ driver and two 3/4″ tweeters. It comes with a marine-grade bungee cord for easier handling.
