By Marc Wisdom @JaxBeerGuy

50-Shades-241x640Friday, February 13 is likely to be memorable as the release date of perhaps the sexiest, most anticipated movies of 2015: 50 Shades of Grey. The release, timed to coincide with Valentine’s Day, is sure to be a huge hit based on the runaway popularity of the book series it draws from.  And, for adventurous beer-lovers, Innis & Gunn, the Scottish Brewers famous for their barrel-aged brews, have created a beer they say could be an aphrodisiac.

The beer is named Fifty Shades of Green and is packed with ingredients that have been associated with enhancing lovemaking abilities. Foremost in the recipe for this sexy, sudsy brew are 50 varieties of hops including Sorachi Ace and Pacific Jade. The heady mélange of hops brings, “…a full body, intense flavor and seductively spicy aromas,” according to the brewery in an article on The Drinks Business website. The brew is said to be “mellow,” offering notes of “grapefruit, lemongrass and passion fruit”.

But, the hops used in this beer are only part of the story. In addition to more traditional ingredients, the brewers at Innis & Gunn have also added ginseng, which is said to boost sexual desire; ginkgo biloba, said to increase blood flow; and damiana, a nerve stimulant.

If have your heart set on getting a hold of one of the bottles produced, you may find it difficult. The brewery only produced 200 bottles and will only sell the brew on its website for £30 (about $46) per 330ml bottle.
