5 Winter Trends

Trend #1: Soft Face, Bold Lip
Soft face, Bold Lip: Kristin Cavallari, Selena Gomez, Julianne Hough, Sophia Bush, Kim Kardashian, Claire Danes

lips: 1/2/3/4/5/6
Heavy face make-up is a thing of the past. Having said that, the bold lip has made its way to every red carpet, A-list celebrity, and magazine cover. We now see a bold lip in every shade of red, purple, blue, pink, you name it...However, in order to master this trend, you will need to have a very light eye (make-up) paired with a natural face.
Trend #2: Skirt + Tights + Bootsskirts tight and boots, olivia polermo, blake lively, whitney port, miranda kerr, keira knightleySkirts: 1/2/3/4/5

Since this has always been a favorite trend of mine, I was extremely excited to see that it is back and bigger than ever. The great thing about this trend is you can get as creative as you want. Puffy sweaters compliment the tights and boots look well. I chose Olivia's picture (#1) to show how you can add a pop of color, Blake Lively's (#2) to show how to do patterned tights, Whitney Port's (#3) to show how to make 4 different color neutrals work perfectly in an outfit as long as you have tights to put them all together, Miranda Kerr's (#4) to show how to bring back the jean skirt with the help of tights, and Keira Knightley to show how to work florals into a winter outfit.
Trend #3: Anything Fur
FUR: Kourtney Kardashian, Gal Meets Glam, Miranda Kerr, Kristin Cavallari, Olivia PolermoFur: 1/2/3/4/5
Let me start this one by saying....I don't wear ANYTHING that's real fur. However, when it comes to faux fur, I'm all over it. Yes...this does have something to do with the fact that I like animals more than I like people. Real fur can be expensive, so if you're into the trend and want to save money shop faux. All things fur (faux/real) are in right now- hoods, scarfs, hats, winter headbands, vests, shoes, coats, bags, etc.

Trend #4: Metallic Dresses

Metallic Dresses: Nicole Richie, Jennifer Anniston, Anne Hathaway, Gisele, Gwynth Paltrow
Metallic: 1/2/3/4/5
Metallics, sequins, gold, silver....are no longer just for New Years. This trend is being seen at weddings, charities, and pretty much any other formal event. While black used to be the only color worn at formal winter events, the metallic trend has given us a new playing field.
Trend #5: Winter Ombre Hair
Ombre Hair: Lily aldrige, jessica alba, whitney port, sophia bush, jessica alba, angelina jolie
Ombre: 1/2/3/4/5/6
This one may come as a surprise...but a huge trend for winter is now going lighter in hair color. What better way to battle ghostly white skin? If you think about it, it does make sense. Darker hair and white skin do not compliment each other. Unless your name is Snow White. The ombre trend works well for people because it allows different dimensions of high lights and low lights to bring out the right color in your skin.
