5 Ways to Relax {and unwind in the comfort of your own home}

My crazy toddler is dreaming of sugar plum fairies, and I am sitting here listening to the pitter patter of raindrops outside. The sound is so methodical and relaxing at the same time. It’s putting me to sleep and I love it. The recent rain has inspired me to brainstorm easy ways for moms to relax in the comfort of their own home.

Do you have little ones at home?

Do you have a hard time finding time for yourself?

Here are 5 Easy Ways to Unwind at Home.

1.) Family Spa Night.

One of my friends actually inspired this idea. You can do pedicures at home with the whole family, set up chairs and soak your feet. Complete do it yourself at home pedicures how to here .  You can also do mini facials, or both! Have your little helpers mix up a homemade masque for you. {Recipes for masques here}. You set out the ingredients for the masque and sliced cucumbers for the eyes. They mix it up. Kids would love putting “MUD” on mommies face! {My daughter isn’t even 2 yet and she already loves to play Betty Crocker}.

2.) Romantic Bath time with Your Significant Other.

This doesn’t have to be a sexual time {it can be of course… but that is up to you}. The point is total relaxation. My husband and I do this on a regular basis, and it does wonders for you soul. I swear. We light candles, play spa music, and sit and talk until we’re pruney. Sometimes we talk about serious things, and sometimes it’s very intimate, it really just depends on both of our moods. Either way, bath time is always a success. We are both extremely relaxed, and always feel wonderful after. Which of course is the perfect way to end that hectic day.

3.) Enjoy a good cup of Tea.  Even if you’re not a big tea drinker, a large cup of hot tea before bed does wonders. I don’t usually drink tea, and I am quite a “Coffee Snob”. But when I need to relax a big cup of Peppermint or Chamomile Tea with a few drops of honey always hits the spot. Did you know that there have been studies done proving that Peppermint and Chamomile are huge stress relievers? It works!

4.) Make Lemonade Cucumber Spa popsicles {recipe here}. They taste so good you’ll being dreaming of what it would be like if you were at a spa… well at least for the moment :)

5.) Last but not Least… SCHEDULE ME TIME!!

But chances are if you are reading this, you have no “me time”. Because as parents we all know there is no such thing.

So if don’t have time for yourself at least go buy fresh lavender or lavender oil and put a dab on your pillow at night. A wonderful way to calm an otherwise crazy mind.   Aromatherapy is also a great tool for ways to relax.

Here’s a great quote that inspires me to be positive:

Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.  ~Leo Buscaglia

{and remember to breathe….Enjoy your Sunday!}
