Have a Yard Sell

A yard sell is a fantastic option for making cash; however, it takes some planning in order to have a successful yard sale.  Yard sells are great if you have a large variety of items to sell.  In fact, throwing a multi-family yard sell typically produces better results because there is a wide variety of items for sale.  With a yard sale it is important to run an advertisement in the local newspaper and put up signs around the area you live in so that people can easily find your yard sale.   The location of your yard sale is also very important, if you don’t live on busy street you might consider hosting it at another location.  Also, make sure that you take the time to organize the items that you have for sale.  Avoid using bins, especially for clothing, people don’t want to waste a bunch of time digging for items they want to buy.  Instead, take the time to lay out your items and arrange clothes by size if possible.  It is also important to take the time to price all of your items so that people browsing your items will know how much to pay.  If you are over-priced, you might find people passing on your items or negotiating prices.  Remember people are looking for bargains when they are shopping yard sales.

Sell Your Stuff on Ebay

Ebay is a great way to earn money by selling your unwanted items, including clothing, knick-knacks, electronics, cds, movies, games, and more.  It is fairly easy to set up an account and list your unwanted items; however, if you are a brand new seller Ebay may restrict how many items you can sell at a given time.  Selling individual items can be time consuming and take some time for you to set up each item that you want to sell.  It is very important that you take several photos of each item that you are selling so that the seller can see the condition of the product before bidding.  After you sell the items, then you have to pack them so that the item or items aren’t while damaged in transit.  Then you have to take it to your local post office, UPS, or FedEx office to mail your package each time that you sell an item.  If you plan on shipping expensive items, it would beneficial to add insurance and tracking for your own protection.

Craigslist or Facebook Groups

Many people are listing their gently used items on craigslist or Facebook groups in their local area to sell their unwanted items to other people in their local community.  When you list your items you must follow the rules so that your post will no be deleted, especially, when it comes to taking photos.  Once you sell your item or items, then you have too arrange to meet the buyer so that you can swap your items for cash.  Meeting total strangers can be a very scary experience and you should always use caution when picking a place to meet.  Always, have someone in the car with you for added protection and meet in a public location.  If it is dark outside, pick a location in a public location that is well lite such as a gas station, fast food restaurant, ect.  Never give the person too much personal information such as your home address, home phone number, date of birth, or social security number.  Do be careful when using these boards and be aware that scams can happen.  Some Facebook group admins will remove a person from the group, if a problem is reported with a seller.

Get Rid of Unwanted CDs, DVDs, and Video Games Using Magpie

If you have a bunch of old cds, dvds, or video games that you no longer want, turn these unwanted items into cash quickly and easily.  Use Magpie to sell your unwanted cds, dvds, and video games by simply scanning or typing in the barcode of the item that you want to sell.  Once you scanned all of your unwanted items, then you can request the packing materials required to ship your unwanted items items to Magpie by choosing the method that is most convenient for you.  This is a great way to recycle your old cds, dvds, and video games while making one trip to your local post office or UPS store.

Donate Your Unwanted Items

Don’t throw your old clothes or unwanted items into the trash if they are still in good condition.  Instead, take your unwanted items and donate them to a charity of your choice.  In fact, have you ever seen those donation boxes sitting in parking lots?  These donation boxes are placed there for your convenience and makes donating your unwanted items quick and easy.  If you have large unwanted items such as furniture, you can contact a local charity such as the Salvation Army and request a free pick up.  Donating your unused items is a great way to give back and help others in your local community.  You can usually write off your donations at tax time but it will require a receipt so you will have to take your items to the charity of your choice.
