5 Ways To Beat The Heat In Dallas

By Ohsocynthia @OhSoCynthia

This morning, I met up with my friend, Paige McCoy Smith, to share 5 fun ways to beat the heat on WFAA's Good Morning Texas:
There are great community pools all across North Texas, but none is quite as spectacular as the Fraternal Order of Eagles Pool. It boasts an Olympic-sized pool, kiddie pool, two volleyball courts, playground and sandbox for the kids, and two outdoor bars for the adults. It even gives back as a non-profit organization that supports 15 different charities so you can feel good about your day of fun in the sun. Although becoming a member lowers the entry fee from $8 to $3, you don’t have to be one to get in. (Children under five are $3.) Located at 8500 Arturo Dr, Dallas, TX 75228, www.foe.com
Safari Run in Plano is a open play gym/fitness center designed so that children and their parents can stay healthy together. The open play area allows children to run freely while their parents have fitness classes in the same room. In addition to the main play floor, there is a smaller playground for toddlers and babies, which has a video screen that parents can use to look in on their older kids in the main play area. They have obstacle courses, slides, climbing walls – all kinds of activities to keep kids busy. 2300 Coit Ave. #300, Plano, TX 75075, www.safarirun.com/location/plano
In addition to being a great place to get fantastic Italian food, Urban Crust features a rooftop ice bar called "32 Degrees", named appropriately for its constant 32 degree temperature the draft beers are poured at. Liquor taps pour Tuaca, Patron Silver Tequila, and Jagermeister at -5 degrees. The bar also features a strip of ice running the length of the bar that patrons can rest their drinks on to keep cold. 1006 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074 http://www.urbancrust.com/32-degrees
If you are looking for more of an adult outing, head to the Quarter Bar in Uptown and cool off with their delectable Booze Pops. Flavors change weekly based on seasonal fruits like watermelon, strawberry, peach and pineapple. At $4 each, they are an affordable way to take the edge off of Summer. They also have Frozen Jack and Coke and frozen Blackberry Lemonade ($8). Every Tuesday enjoy 1/2-price taps, apps and frozens and
play Trivia for prizes! 3301 McKinney Ave Dallas, TX 75204, www.quarterbardallas.com
Ice at The Parks located inside The Parks at Arlington, The skating surface is a full size regulation NHL size hockey rink. The offer private ice-skating lessons, hockey & broom-ball games & room to throw parties. Cost is $8-$7/kids under 5 are free.  The Parks at Arlington is located at 3815 S Cooper St, Arlington, TX 76015, www.iceattheparks.net/
