Things to Do in Jordan
Despite its immense size and variety, the Middle East has a negative reputation due to decades of violence and strife. The Middle East’s welcoming locals, rich culture. And awe-inspiring natural treasures do not make headlines.
1. Take a mud bath
The mineral-rich mud of the Dead Sea is an ideal method to experience its restorative properties. This spa-like practice is vital during your vacation to the Dead Sea. Since the mud contains unique mineral characteristics that are beneficial to your skin. One mud bath is claimed to help the skin detoxify, take away excess oil, and firm it.
Covering yourself from head to toe in mud is as enjoyable as it sounds. Take a couple selfies while waiting for the mud to dry before rinsing it off in the Dead Sea.
2. Float in the Dead Sea
As one would assume, floating in the Dead Sea is a must-do experience when touring Jordan. The Dead Sea, which stretches over 400 miles along the Jordan Rift Valley, is around 1,400 feet beneath sea level. It is one of the most popular activities to do in Jordan for a number of reasons.
The Dead Sea is not only the lowest spot on Earth, but it also has hypersalinity (9 times as salty as the ocean!) thus you can float in the water. Although the Dead Sea is known for being hostile to plants and animals, its mineral-rich waters. And muck entices both tourists and locals to bask in its curative capabilities.
3. Visit the Treasury
One of the main reasons visitors come to Jordan is to see the ancient city of Petra. It is regarded as the country’s crown jewel. And believe me when I say that visiting one of the Seven New Wonders of the World is well worth it.
Most tourists in the country flock to visit Petra. It’s one of the top things to do in Jordan, after all—which makes it busy and difficult to navigate. How do you get there? Where can you get tickets? And exactly what should you look for inside Petra?
4. Experience Petra at Night
Seeing the first rays of the morning sun illuminate the chiseled features of the Treasury is one thing. But seeing Petra at night is a very different experience. You’ll be able to see Petra illuminated by hundreds of miniature candles. Providing a truly magnificent experience.
Before organizing your visit, take in mind that the night experience is only available on Mondays, Wednesdays. And Thursdays and requires a separate ticket from your Petra entrance ticket. You will need to spend 17 more JOD for this experience.
5. Wadi al Mujib
Hiking through Wadi Mujib Canyon is one of Jordan’s greatest adventurous and thrilling experiences. The canyon is part of the Mujib Biosphere Monument and frequently referred to as “the Grand Canyon of Jordan.”
The entire track takes approximately an hour each way. And navigating the flowing water is half the enjoyment. Starting on the Siq Trail is like attempting an adult obstacle course at a natural water park.
