The holidays have come to an end and it’s time to go back to the real world. Goodbye mince pies and presents, hello shocking bank statement. Its true there’s always the January sales to entertain one’s budget taste for fashion but here are some other ideas to keep you going…
1.“Thrift”
Charity shopping or “thrifting” is a brilliant way to save money and get some quality clothes on the cheap. I love a good bargain and I find a lot of charity shops actually do sales after an abundance of donations after the Christmas period. January is the best for Furs if that’s your thing. I bought a lovely fur coat in a charity shop sale for less than 20 pounds last year. Bargain.
Oxfam UK are currently having a sale online. Check it out here.
2. Sample Sales.
Don’t just January sale, sample sale. You can get some great designer stuff for usually less than 60% of the original price. Plus there’s no risk of the same dress tragedy as most of the stuff comes in few examples. Search the internet for sample sale events. There’s a big sample sale happening in London at the end of January near Liverpool street station called the secret sample sale. Click here for more info.
3. Groupon.
Groupon is a great site to visit for deals and vouchers on anything from spa weekends to restaurants to jewelry. You can save up to 70 per cent which is not bad at all! For days out and restaurants it’s easy, just follow the conditions and turn up with your coupon and you’re all set. Objects and things like jewelry offers in london and elsewhere take a little while to arrive. This year I bought a laser hair removal coupon for my legs and it’s a dream come true, it was really easy I paid for the voucher printed it out and booked an appointment, I’m now on my 3rd séance.

4. DIY
Of course! Check out ideas online or the posts on here. You can make personalise or change up your style with DIY at a low price. It’s a wonderful feeling when someone compliments you on something you made and you can say “thanks I made it!”
5. Swap
January is a time to clean out your closets and more importantly make use of even the presents that weren’t your thing. Organise a swap party with your friends or look for events online. London has a great event that happens once a month called “swapaholic”. Check it out here to save a few bob. You never know you could find a treasure in someone’s trash!
