5 Tips for a ZERO WEIGHT GAIN Holiday Season

It can be challenging to resist your favorite foods during the holiday season. Eating is part of the dynamic of getting together with family and sharing a beautiful part of the year. Still, there is much more to the season than just taking food at face value. A bit of creative swapping and alternative ideas may go a long way in the long run.

Use these tips as mantras help you help yourself

 1.  Wow yourself with Water

During the holidays there will be more opportunities to consume alcohol and sweet drinks. Add to this, switching from cold to hot temperatures in and out of the house. These changes will first dehydrate you, more than anything else.  Dehydration will make you feel thirstier and hungrier.  This will not only through your body off balance, but it is also total sabotage to your health.

Keep hydrated and the desire to drink other things, or even to overeat, will decrease significantly.  It will be much less of a sacrifice for you, since your body will crave hydration more so than greasy foods.  Do not like water? Invest on Black Friday on a soda-making machine that can fizz your water and add some flavor to it.

 2.  Protein is Prime

Make a list of all the carb and sugar-stuffed items you are usually offered during the season. Have an honest talk and decide whether any of these items is indispensible for you to have. You will find that the answer is “No.” Switch to more protein items to feel full and satisfied when you eat.  Allow yourself nice, extra helpings of turkey and ham.

Also, make your own side dishes and offer them up when you go on visits. It is like taking the Paleo with you everywhere you go. Delicious butternut squash casseroles, Paleo style, will put those bread-based ones to shame. Create your own protein-based desserts and offer them too. Pumpkin Paleo Pie, for example, will make everyone scream for more.

 3. Savory over Sweet

Savory dishes can actually de-activate the need for a sweet tooth because they usually hit more taste buds, and prevent you from crashing down from a carbo-loaded meal. Do your research prior to going to celebrations, and make your very own confections of savory.

 4. Veggies galore

Tons of delicious holiday meals can be made with a vegetable, rather than a starch base. Natural seasonings make them even more delectable and fun to pair. Give your holiday a different kick and use spices uncommon to the season. Try curries, mint sauces, and pickled everything.  Also, for new veggies, such as giant olives, and cook them in new ways. Check out the recipe for stuffed spaghetti squash and see for yourself how easy it is to eat your veggies.

 5. Do not forget the crudités

There is something about a plate of raw veggies and a plethora of dipping sauce options that make crudités the universal party favorites. Do you know that crudités also are super fibrous and make you full almost instantly, while you still get to enjoy the fun of crunching and dipping on good stuff? Bring your tray to the party and dip in! It is the easiest way to get the veggie servings that you need.
