5 things to do today at these warm, mineral enriched waters in Bath

One

Arrive early to avoid the queues. The Thermae spas are very popular so choose your time wisely. We arrived Sunday morning and booked in just as it opened at 9.00. There was just a dribble of a line which was perfect. If you arrive in the afternoon then you may have more of a wait.

Two

Be impressed with the locker and changing system. All lockers are operated electronically using a very clever wrist band. In fact your wrist band can be used to pay for refreshments in the cafe making your experience in the spa totally cashless. The changing rooms are spotless, roomy and because children are not allowed in the spa, quiet and very civilized

Three

Choose which area of the spa to relax in first. There are two main pools and a floor devoted to huge essence filled steam pods and powerful drench shower with atmospheric fiber optic lighting.

The bottom pool (Minerva) the larger of the two pools is complemented with a massage shower, whirlpool and lazy river. The lazy river allows you to float around effortlessly with the help of long blue foam floats are provided for extra buoyancy.

The rooftop pool is totally open air and overlooks the rooftops of Bath. At night this must be totally magically and almost the cooler the air outside the better! Sunday morning the rooftop pool was peaceful and you could easily take advantage of the whirlpool areas.

Four

Choose a treatment to have whilst you are at the spa. There are various packages available for men and women including a mid week reviver. We opted for a facial and traditional full body massage. Both were conducted professionally with plenty of explanation from beginning to end. After your treatment you are offered tea and gave the opportunity to relax in a very chilled relaxation room.

Five

Have lunch in the Springs cafe. Whilst still robed  and with your slippers on you can enjoy as little or as much as you want in this cafe. After a bit of gentle swimming and massage you will strangely feel quite hungry – we did. We opted for a glass of wine, sliced butlers steak and twice cooked pork belly. Both were excellent and serve with plenty of ‘health’. Smaller bites are available and all looked superb.
