5 Things To Do On Any Day

By Djridings @fivethingsnow

Here are five things you can do any day that only take a few moments in your busy schedule to make yourself and others feel fulfilled. They are from Abbey Gallagher from the blog, http://abbeygallagher.wordpress.com. Please make you sure that you have a look at it.

1. Stretch.

Once you wake up, get your blood flowing by doing some simple stretches. Try and reach for your toes, reach for the ceiling. Wiggle around a bit. Starting the day off by getting your body moving even this little bit is not only fun but will give you a little boost of energy.

2. Look in the mirror and compliment yourself.

Before you leave the house, I’m sure you take a look in the mirror. While you’re getting dressed, brushing your teeth, or as you’re rushing out the door-pause for just a moment, smile, and give yourself a compliment. Sometimes it’s nice to remind yourself of one of the many things that makes you awesome. It may feel silly at first, but by acknowledging one of your great qualities you’ll boost your self-esteem. It doesn’t have to be a compliment on your physical appearance, either. For example, you could say “You’re a great friend.” If you can’t appreciate the qualities that make you great, how are you going to show them off to other people?

3. Compliment a stranger.

Now that you’ve complimented yourself and know just how awesome it feels, do the same for a stranger. There is always one nice thing you can say to someone. Compliment them on their scarf while you’re riding the train into work or on their shoes while waiting in line at the café. You may only be able to comment on a part of their physical appearance since you don’t know their character, but it will boost their self-esteem regardless. Maybe they weren’t sure about wearing that scarf this morning. Now they feel like they made the right decision! And who knows, maybe you will get talking and make a new friend; you’ve got nothing to lose!

4. Call a friend (just to say hello).

Of course our lives are busy. We’ve got school, work, and families to attend to and sometimes it’s all too easy to let some of our closest friendships slip under our radar. All too often do we find ourselves saying we’ll call them later or write them an e-mail when we’ve got time to really give it proper attention. So the next time you find yourself sitting in bed watching TV at the end of a long day, pick up your phone instead and just give a friend a call. They’ll be happy to hear from you even if it’s only a five minute phone call. Chances are, you’ll feel better too.

5. Say “I love you” and mean it.

It may sound silly, but saying “I love you” to your spouse, child, friend, pet, or even yourself, will give you the warm and fuzzies. Even if you’re rushing, catch their attention by looking them in the eye and telling them how you feel. They’ll appreciate the moment you took to pause the world just to tell them just how much they mean to you.
