Five Indulge Yourself in Formosa Spa Journey at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, TaipeiThe Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Taipei, a world-class spa centre for healing, offering a range of holistic treatments and therapies in serene surroundings, offers guests a series of innovative and restorative spa journeys inspired by Asia's local culture and wellness rituals. "Formosa" is a Taiwanese-inspired therapy featuring a fusion of butterfly massage techniques.
"Formosa" is the original name of Taiwan. It means "beautiful island". The Formosa journey begins with a welcoming foot ritual. Your skin is then polished using the ancient recipe of crushed sea pearls blended with sea salt from Tainan of southern Taiwan. Next, your body is layered in white mud with aloe vera, which will hydrate and re-mineralise your skin. Once your skin has fully absorbed all the goodness from the mud mask, a fusion of butterfly massage techniques and warm oil is beautifully applied during a full body massage. The whole wonderful journey is completed with scalp and face scrapping, a famous Taiwanese therapy and a refreshing juice of plum blossom.
This treatment's creativity is revealed by the unique massage skills that are based on the local products and concepts of Taiwanese culture, defining Taiwan as "the friendly country" and "The Kingdom of Butterflies".
