One

Start with the classic gin and tonic. This comes in a huge glass. Made with Fever Tree tonic water, freshly squeezed lime and Bombay Sapphire gin. There are more elaborate drinks to try such as gin with thyme. However, this seemed suitably simple for lunch.

Two

Move onto a main course of spiced duck breast. I ordered a house salad as a side which was brilliantly sweetly dressed. The duck perfectly cooked and just a bit pink which was totally inoffensive. I drank this with a glass of Malbec. The Jam Tree has an excellent range of wine by the glass.

Three

Don’t forget to order some nibbles for the table. The sour bread was particularly good. Delicately toasted and served with good quality olive oil. Still going on the G&T!

Four

The name of the bar ‘The Jam Tree’ intrigued me, so I had to try a drink with Jam in it. I didn’t want something massive so went for raspberry jam shot. This is simply jam shaken with vodka. The tiny jam jar arrived and was perhaps the most child-like flavoured shot I have ever tasted. Sometimes you forget how good jam is.

Five

Now onto pudding. I was tempted by the chai pannacotta but went for the staple sticky toffee pudding. This, served with caramel ice cream and a walnut praline. The contrast in textures worked from the crunchy praline to the very smooth ice cream. The pudding itself was delicious and indulgent.
