This guest post is by Jodi Street, AKA The Surrey Nail Artist.1. Use Cuticle Oil Daily! For beautiful nails be sure to massage the oil into cuticles & the skin around the nails daily to seal in moisture & to keep nails hydrated.* I recommend CND Solar Oil or Essie apricot cuticle oil.2. File your nails in one direction! If you choose to file your own nails always file them in the same direction to achieve a clean smooth shape. Filing the nails back & fourth can cause splitting.3. Never Buff Ridged nails! If your nails are ridged avoid buffing them! They will only get thinner increasing sensitivity. Instead you can apply a ridge filling base coat such as Essie or OPI or you can have a professional nail treatment such as Bio Sculpture where they can fill in the ridges with something called ‘Sculpting’ gel to smooth out the nail & minimise the appearance of ridges.4. Always soak off your Gel Manicure! As tempting as it may be, peeling off ANY gel polish is an absolute no no! In doing so it can result in weak, split & damaged nails.Always book in for a professional & experienced Nail Technician to remove them for you or purchase a removal kit & remove at home yourself by following the step by step removal instructions provided by your Technician.5. Wear Rubber Gloves! When it comes to washing up & cleaning always protect your hands & nails by wearing gloves! Soapy dishwater & cleaning products can cause havoc on manicured nails. For information about the Surrey Nail Artist or to book an appointment please check out my site www.thesurreynailartist.co.uk
