With Halloween here it's time to think about some of the spookier places to visit in Scotland. Fancy some gruesome history? Or somewhere with a creepy feel? Learn about the past with a visit to some of these spooky sites.

The Real Mary King's Close, Edinburgh

Edinburgh is renowned for its bloodcurdling history and the old town is ripe for some haunting. Mary King's Close dates back to the 1600's. Over the years it was partially demolished, built on and hidden from view. You can now visit some of the oldest parts of Edinburgh and hear of some spooky goings on.

Overton Bridge

Overton Bridge in West Dunbartonshire is a recent mysterious spot. The bridge has been the site of many unexplained dog suicides. Some dogs have even recovered only to try jumping again! Do you dare walk where dogs fear?

Stirling Castle

Will you be lucky enough on a visit to Stirling Castle to see the Pink Lady? It's been said that she was engaged to a brave knight who starved to death inside Stirling Castle. She died of a broken heart after hearing of his death and wanders around waiting to meet up with her beloved.

The beautiful Scotland Street School designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and opened in 1906 is worth a visit at any time of the year. It is said that you will hear ghostly footsteps and whispers from teachers and children who once attended the school.

Culloden Moor

A visit to Culloden Moor and the site of Bonnie Prince Charlie's rebel army was crushed by government troops in 1746 will fill you with sadness and sorrow. Many apparitions have been reported at the battlefield site of wounded and helpless soldiers.
