Capri is an island filled with charm and good times. Famed for the flock of celebs that flop around its shores in the summer, it offers the perfect mix of traditional Italian life and beautiful natural attractions.

As well as opulent yachts that anchor down in the pretty harbours, there are plenty of landmarks, attractions, and views to soak up, not to mention the delicious Italian cuisine and a rich history that spans back hundreds of years. There’s something for everyone in Capri but, if you’re not yet sold on this Italian hotspot, here are five reasons why you really should add it to your holiday list.

The Blue Grotto

One of the most incredible natural wonders on Capri is the Blue Grotto. Founded by Tiberius, a Roman emperor, it is essentially an optical illusion cast by the warm glow of the Italian sun into a nearby cave. When the timing is right, you can witness the cave glow a weird and wonderful electric blue color.

Private Yacht Experience

Make like the celebs and bring your own glitz and glamour to your holiday in Capri. When the sun’s out, there’s nothing quite like taking a boat offshore, anchoring down, and soaking up the sun with the waves lapping around you. The beaches during the summer months can get pretty hectic in Capri, which is why hiring your own boat is a great way to enjoy the peace and quiet on offer just away from the coast.

Faraglioni Rocks

Another natural wonder is the Faraglioni Rocks, an impressive formation of limestone stacks that perch just off the coastline. In fact, it’s one of the first things you see as you’re coming towards the island by boat, so it’s pretty hard to miss. Nothing can quite prepare you for how big the stacks are – when the weather is clear, they are visible from Positano and Praiano on the Amalfi Coast. From the vantage point of the rocks, there are lush views across the sea and the pretty gardens of Augustus.

Capri Town

Nature is all around in Capri, but if you head into Capri Town, there’s food, drink, and ambience to soak up. The traditional Italian streets are lined with pretty cafes and family-run eateries, providing beautiful spots to kick back and relax with a coffee or cocktail in hand.

Anacapri

Most people forget that Capri has two towns, the second of which is the more remote and lesser-known Anacapri. Sitting at the top of a hill, it provides stunning views across the island and beyond, and even has a chairlift that you can ride to the very top of Monte Solara for even more spectacular panoramas.
