My rating: 4 of 5 stars
5 Minutes to Marriage by Carla Cassidy is a 2009 Silhouette Suspense publication.
Jack is a musician that nearly had the world in the palm of his hand. But, he and his wife, Candace, divorced and she took the kids. His promising solo career flopped and then Candace was murdered. Jack has his sons for now, but his wealthy father-in-law is hell bent on gaining custody. One wrong move and Jack could lose his boys. The trouble isn't Jack's notorious party reputation. He's not living that lifestyle anymore, but the boys are little hellions. He needs some help!
Enter Marisa Perez. She accepts the job as the boys' nanny and sets to work getting them into a routine and instilling some discipline and character into them. She didn't count on the smoldering chemistry between herself and Jack. When it looks like Jack could be about to wind up in court over a custody dispute, Marisa suggest they get married. But, what about Marisa's boyfriend, Patrick? How will Jack manage to keep their marriage strictly business when it's all he can do to keep his hands off of her as it is?
When an infamous diamond ring becomes a part of the family drama, it looks like Jack's sons could be a target for kidnappers. The ring was supposed to bring true love to the owner, but so far anyone that has been close to it has had nothing but bad luck. Will Marisa and Jack become a victim of the curse or will true love give Marisa and Jack the family they both want more than anything else?
This story ties in with " Prince Charming for 1 Night" by Nina Bruhns. The Rothchild's are wealthy and Harold wants his grandsons and doesn't seem to really get what that might do them. They need some stability after being raised in the fast lane their parents lived in. Jack is a guy that made mistakes, but now is doing all he can to be a good parent and live a clean life. Marisa has suffered through some bad relationships that had a terrible cost. She is a calm, honest and strong woman with a lot of good sense and is exactly what Jack needs- not just for his sons but for himself as well.
A wonderful addition to the series. This one gets an B+ (3.5 stars rounded to 4)
