Alcohol related deaths have hit a record-high in England and Wales, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics. During the first nine months of 2020, 5,460 deaths were registered with alcohol stated as the cause - up 16% compared to the same period in the previous year, and the highest number recorded since records began in 2001.
