1. Nambalam

These temples are the Threeprayar Sri Ram Temple, Muzikulam Lakshmana Temple, Kudalmanikam Bharata Temple, and Paymala Shatrughan Temple. These temples are respectively dedicated to Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna, who are the four sons of Dasaratha and are collectively known as Nalambalam.
Worshiping in Nalbalam on the auspicious occasion of Ramayana month is considered a rich and golden event. However, there are a total of five sets of one and nalambalam, and is the most popular one. The four temples are highly visited during Namalamba Darshanam.

2. Thiruvarappu Temple

This temple is considered one of the oldest temples as it is more than 1500 years old. Built on the banks of river Meenachil in reverence to Lord Krishna, a unique feature of this temple is that the priest opens the temple with a key in the morning. If the key is even slightly delayed in opening the temple, the priest is allowed to open the door with the help of an ax as it is believed that Lord Krishna cannot stand with hunger. This is the reason that the temple is kept open during the eclipse. The temple has a 12-level brass lamp which was gifted by a Christian follower.
The festival is best visited in the temple, which is held in the months of April and May, during which various cultural activities are celebrated like elephant races, performed by little girls under ten years of age as Lord Krishna. Prepared prayers are offered.

The temple is located in the center of the hill station and is one of the most famous Shiva temples in Kottayam. It was constructed 500 years ago by Thekkamur Maharaj representing the architecture of the Kerala School of Architecture. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has many beautiful sculptures depicting ancient stories which are a major attraction for tourists and pilgrims. Various cultural activities, such as traditional dance forms, are known in the temple theater as Kootambalam.
The major festivals of the temple include a Phalgun Utsavam that continues for 10 days and falls in the months of March and April. Other festivals during which the temple is worth visiting are held in the months of October - November and June - July.

4. Panchikadu Temple

This temple is one of the most famous temples in Kottayam, and people worship Goddess Saraswati here. Unlike other temples offering only prayers and religious ceremonies during the tenure of Navratri, this temple offers prayers throughout the year.
Situated in a natural valley, the temple flows water and drips from it, making it an attractive sight for tourists. The main idol of Saraswati is in the middle of a rectangular pond, covered by creepers, which looks quite excellent. However, an alternative idol of Prayer Saraswati is offered which is near the main idol.

from the way: The city is well connected to other cities and can be reached via cars or buses. There are many buses plying from all parts of the country to Kottayam bus station.
by Rail: The city has good railway connections and is easily accessible via trains from other cities to Kottayam railway station.
By air: There is no airport in Kottayam, thus, if you opt for flights to reach the city, you have to land at the nearest airport which is Cochin International Airport which is about 50 km from Kottayam.
